Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church

Reverend Matthew C. Minzlaff, Pastor

office # (248) 437 -1651  /  cell #  (608) 343-9555

WELCOME

TO OUR GUESTS  We welcome you in the Name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We are pleased  that you have gathered with us to receive God's Service in preached Word and Administered Sacraments. Please sign our guest book and visit with us following the Service.  We look forward to getting to know you and to having the opportunity to worship with you again in the near future.

Holy Communion!

Jesus gave his Supper to his Church as a precious gift, and we do not take it lightly!  According to scripture, every communicant receives the true body and blood of Jesus Christ-together with he bread and wine (1 Cor. 10:16).  In the Sacrament, repentant communicants receive forgiveness of all sin (Mt26:26-28)  Impenitent communicants become guilty of the body and blood of Christ (1 Cor. 11:27-28). By communing together we publicly confess our common faith in ALL teachings of the Bible (1 Cor 10:17-18).  If you are not a member of this congregation, or a sister WELS or ELS congregation, we ask you to speak privately with our pastor before communing.  He will be glad to explain our Biblical communion practice, and how you may prepare to join us in the sacrament (1Cor 11:28-29).  Thank you for your cooperation in this very important matter!

The Divine Service is about God coming to us to bless us with forgiveness, deliver us from death and the devil, and to grant us eternal salvation. We have entered this building to meet God. God is not found in Jerusalem  or on the tree of the cross, or in heaven, but at His altar in His Word and Sacrament.  He comes in His flesh and blood, living, for you!  He comes to build you in New Life.

Therefore, right here and right now heaven comes down to earth with all of its benefits.  God is really present to commune with you. Here is where the earthly church gathers with the heavenly church to give thanks to Jesus and receive His benefits. We are not worthy of this great honor, yet our God gathers us into His embrace once again; God is merciful to us solely for the sake of Jesus.

At the points marked with a cross (+) is laudable to make the sign of the cross to remember our Baptism into Christ Jesus. We are His children, lambs, and dearly beloved Bride.

At this sign (*) it is laudable to bow, recognizing the Lord's coming for us. As we bow, we recognize our unworthiness to be in God's presence, But our King is gracious!

GOD'S SERVICE

The Feast of The Holy Trinity – June 12th, 2022

[Creator Redeemer and Sanctifier]

Common Service :: p15 Christian Worship

Explanation of the Week:  When Isaiah beheld the glory of the Lord, he cried out “Woe is me!” For the sinner cannot stand in the presence of a holy God and live (Is 6:1-7). But God the Father lifted up His Son Jesus for us on the cross, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:1-15). This eternal life of Christ is given us according to the Holy Spirit’s good pleasure in Baptism. “Unless one is born (again) of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” To sinners in fear of death, the messengers of God place on our lips the living body and blood of Christ and speak His words of absolution, “Your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.” Having received forgiveness and life from the Father through the Son by the Holy Spirit, we join with the angels in praising the blessed Trinity, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts!” “For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen” (Rom 11:33-36).

Silent Prayer

Ask God to graciously open your heart  to joyfully receive Jesus and all His benefits in Word and Supper. Pray that His gracious presence may dwell in you an, plead Your own cause; do not forget the voice of Your enemies. O God, why have You cast us off forever so forgive you, comfort you,  and deliver you from all harm and danger to soul and body.

GOD'S SERVICE OF THE WORD

VERSES of the INTROIT and GRADUAL :: (Spoken by Pastor)

Alleluia! O Lord, death with Your servant according to Your mercy and teach me Your statutes. I am Your servant, give me understanding:

that I may know Your testimonies. Alleluia!

THE FIRST READINGIsaiah 6:1-7

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;  The whole earth is full of His glory!”

4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.  5 So I said:  “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.”

6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said:  “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.”

P: The Word of the Lord.

C: Thanks be to God.

34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?” 35 “Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?”

36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

The Gospel is read from the center of the congregation to symbolize that Jesus lived among us as He accomplished our salvation as our Savior; He died for us. He rose as He said.  He lives! He ascended into heaven. And now, until He returns to take us to our heavenly home, He comes to us today and sustains us through His Spirit's means of grace alone.

P: The Lord be with you.

C: And with Your Spirit.

P: Bless we the Lord.

C: Thanks be to God.

P: The continuation of the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (*)according to … St. John 3:1-17

C: (sing) Glory be to you, O Lord!

THE GOSPEL READINGJohn 3:1-17

There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”

3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”

5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

9 Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can these things be?”

10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man [b]who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should [c]not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

P: The Gospel of the Lord.

C: (sing) Praise be to you, O Christ

Likewise, if faith, as our hand, is to receive anything from God, we must not seek it outside the Word and without the Word, out of the air as it were, but receive [it] from the hand of God, which He opens in the Word and Sacraments alone, offering us the fullness of His grace.  For God has determined to deal with us at this point through the Word of the Gospel and the Sacraments.  Rom 10:17 / Titus 3:5
